Civil Advocacy Skills Course









 

Each Wednesday afternoon, 3.00-5.00pm on 15, 22, 29 November and 6 December 2000, Pearce Institute, 840 Govan Road, Glasgow

This four week evening course is designed for social welfare practitioners with little or no experience of representing clients in a tribunal or court forum. Where to stand, where to sit, when to speak, how to present legal argument - this course will guide you through the common pitfalls.

  • Representing clients at a Social Security Tribunal

  • Representing clients at an Employment Tribunal

  • Representing clients in the Heritable Court

  • Representing clients at a Housing Benefit Review Board Hearing (set to change from April 2001)

Speakers - Nicola Smith, Associate Solicitor, GLC; Danny Phillips, CPAG in Scotland; Chris Orr, WRO Glasgow City Council Social Work Department; and Mike Dailly, Principal Solicitor, GLC.

Cost - £80 full course (£60 for voluntary organisations).
