13 November 2000, (full day) University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. The internet has revolutionised the way in which commerce and the dissemination of information takes place. In the age of the information superhighway, what does the law say about issues such as e-commerce, cryptography and authentication over the internet, freedom of information, data protection, surveillance and liabilities of Internet Server Providers? How should solicitors and advisers react in an environment where regulation permanently lags behind the state of technology at any given time. These and other questions will be addressed throughout this seminar. Speakers - John A. Sibbald (Chair), Professional Library Services; Alison White, Shepherd & Wedderburn WS; Mark Poustie, University of Strathclyde; Professor Ian Llyod, University of Strathclyde; Stephen Doogan, University of Strathclyde; and Martin Kerr, University of Glasgow. Cost - £100 solicitors and statutory agencies (£60 voluntary organisations; Free to local residents and voluntary organisations in Govan). CPD - 5 hours |
